Windsurfing: Ynyslas Estuary Wind Direction: SE-NE Wind Stength: 20-25 knots Surf / Sea State: Choppy Air Temperature: 17ºC Sea Temperature: 17ºC Weather: Cloudy Max Speed: 30.42 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 29.42 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Went to the estuary around midday and rigged my 6.3m North Warp - That in
itself was a struggle and it took three of us to do it. By the time we had,
the water had gone from the estuary so I stood around for a while decided
there wasn't enough water so packed up and headed home - the curse of the
Speed kit once again.
I went back down at 3ish and despite the fact that the anemometer was only
reading 6-16 knots on the beach it looked windy enough on the water and
there was at least some water now.
I rigged my 6.3m North Warp again - this time on my own along with my 80
ltr Mistral SL Red Dot. It was only just enough to start with so I sailed
out through the channel and over towards Aberdovey. Out there, with the
wind against the tide it was OK. I then headed back into the estuary where
now the wind felt better.
Plenty of nice, well powered runs and the sail feels lovely. So stable it
feels as though I could hang onto it whatever the wind strength. The board
was fine too, although the conditions were very choppy most of the time and
the wind was in the wrong direction for any proper speed runs.
I changed down to my tiny little Fanatic Falcon Speed for a few runs
towards the end as well - That will be a missle when the conditions are
right.
